The Commodity Manager is responsible for providing technical support and implementing sourcing solutions to ensure the continuity of material supply, meeting Advanced Energy's current and future business needs for the assigned commodity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supports business and strategic procurement activities related to Mechanical Commodity spend.
- Implements commodity management strategies by executing PML strategies to support local, regional, and global operations.
- Develops and maintains a sustainable supply chain with competitive costs, quality, and lean execution.
- Evaluates price trends, new products, and manufacturing processes to improve commodity team performance for local and regional suppliers.
- Supports Commodity Manager and Leader in divisional issues such as material expediting, VMI, and Incoterms.
- Assesses supplier manufacturing capabilities and technology roadmaps; develops suppliers’ capabilities to meet future product needs.
- Supports IQC in clarifying supplier FAI qualification issues, monitors qualification status, and manages new source qualification.
- Provides technical support to local or regional design and operation sites related to Mechanical commodities.
- Develops the approved material list, monitors laminate qualification status, and updates UL safety files.
- Ensures compliance with corporate and manufacturing policies and procedures.
- Maintains high ethical standards in procurement practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.
- Standard office environment; uses general office equipment.
- Travel required approximately 25%, domestic and international.

- Represents strategic commodity management on a cross-functional strategic commodity team that focuses on supply challenges and ensures internal/external customer needs are satisfied. Works cross-functionally with product, manufacturing and quality engineers as well as procurement, finance, and product support.
- Define and monitor metrics in line with AOP (annual operating plan) objectives relative to supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement; then drives cross functional teams to address and close gaps to meet objectives.
- Regularly evaluate cost,quality, delivery performance and service level, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection. Develop and apply a strategic commodity plan to define a preferred supplier base for fabrication commodities.
- Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement on new product designs using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality, cost, manufacturability and supply chain initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree and/or MBAin Supply Chain, Business Management, Operations, Engineering, or related degree
- Twelve (12) years of commodity management experience .
- 5 years of working experience in the Semiconductor Equipment industry and Cable commodity is a plus.
- Strong experiences innegotiating various types of contractual agreements .
- Demonstrated experience working successfully in a matrix organization.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience giving presentations and interaction with director reports, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership

- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
- Define, develop and make effective use of cost analysis tools.
- Provide feedback to peers on cost and cost trends.
- Prepare timely forecasts for the function.
- Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
- Demonstrate expertise in assigned commodities and fully competent in all aspects of supply chain Management including commodities not directly assigned.
