Our client is a major commercial insurance brokerage with offices in Bristol City Centre. They have a fantastic training programme which allows insurance professionals from all backgrounds the opportunity to pursue a career within commercial broking.

Ideally applicants will have some commercial insurance experience, either broking, underwriting or claims, however, we are more than happy to hear from individuals from varying insurance backgrounds, perhaps you’re a personal lines broker or underwriter or wanting to move away from an insurance call centre. All we ask is that you have a desire to learn, to work hard, have a positive mind set and are keen to join a quality “team oriented” business.

In this role you will be dealing with smaller commercial clients, mainly SME with annual premium spends up to £10k. You will provide new business quotations, make amendments to existing policies and be involved in marketing renewals. This role requires a very professional approach and great attention to detail.

Previous us of Acturis system would be beneficial bit is not essential (system training will be provided).

Our client is able to provide an excellent basic salary + a fantastic benefits package which includes 27 days holiday, very generous pension contributions + bonus.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Lead the comprehensive go-to-market strategy and execution for GrabInsure in Malaysia, co-developing high-impact business expansion strategies with Regional Commercial and country teams to ensure overarching strategic alignment and market relevance, and to deliver value to our consumers, driver-partners and merchant-partners.
  • Drive growth by building, empowering, and nurturing a lean, high-performing team, fostering their capabilities, and shaping their career paths to ensure independent operation and skill development.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., business, management, finance, and actuarial science).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, with a track record in business development, commercial roles, partnership management, insurtech, or consulting.
  • Deep and nuanced understanding of insurance products, regulations, and distribution strategies, with a focus on retail/individual products.
  • Develop new workstreams or projects end-to-end to meet our goals within confines of available resourcing.
  • Track record in strategic project management , including the proficient use of frameworks, tools, and processes to ensure effective execution.
  • Proactively identify critical challenges ahead of the curve , especially considering stakeholder needs, and initiate appropriate strategies to mitigate them.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with clients and technical resources to identify their business problems and develop the right approach and analytical solution
  • Plan and design simple to semi-complex business processes and system modifications
  • Make recommendations to improve and support business activities
  • Gather business requirements through a variety of techniques such as work sessions and interviews then analyze and document client complex business requirements and processes; communicate these requirements to appropriate parties
  • Create complex test case scenarios to be used in testing; monitor/oversee the testing of business applications to verify that all client requirements are incorporated into the system design
  • Develop business requirements documents/user stories to support the required modifications
  • May plan, allocate and monitor work of other business analysts
  • Understand simple to complex systems and related data to surface actionable insights, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Assist in providing time estimates for project related tasks
  • Aid in updating process and procedural documentation
  • Develop basic understanding of technical development cycle of mobile application or web portals
  • Support QA, UAT and Release phases of the project via defect analysis, change maintenance, etc
  • Any other task that may be assigned

What We Need:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Business Analyst
  • A degree in Business, IT or any relevant field
  • Previous experience working in the insurance industry is required (Insurtech or health insurance experience is preferred)
  • Health Insurance-related domain certification from INS/LOMA or III is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of business analysis concepts of defining requirements, translating to technical solutions, and Agile approach to prioritizing work to epics, sprints
  • Business analysis skills including facilitation, process documentation, requirements gathering and user acceptance testing
  • Good organizational/time management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines within defined timeframes
  • Experience in an Agile and/or Scrum environment is a must
  • Basic knowledge in generating process documentation, and document system functionality, data integration, and workflow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Technical writing skills are a plus
  • Must be able to speak in Cantonese fluently
  • Must be based in Malaysia or Hong Kong

The opportunity

EY is looking for a Senior Associate Business Analyst to support the team in the execution of clients’ assignments in the Insurance sector in the areas of:

  • Leverage information management and business intelligence to enhance decision-making in insurance operations.
  • Analyse and design tailored IT solutions that meet the unique needs of insurance applications.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within insurance workflows.
  • Play a key role in planning and executing technology initiatives that drive innovation in the insurance sector.
  • Work with stakeholders to align technology solutions with business goals in the insurance industry.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Gather and document business requirements to fully understand user needs.
  • Identify process improvements and create documentation: BRDs, functional specifications, use cases.
  • Work with IT teams to develop solutions that align with industry standards and meet business needs.
  • Create test plans and test cases to ensure solutions meet requirements.
  • Act as the main communication link between business units and IT.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in project management/business analysis, in the insurance industry.
  • An effective communicator with strong people management skills.
  • Ability to own and drive issues with the project team.
