Job Description

What's the role? As a Regional Category Manager, you will manage a specific sourcing category and develop sourcing strategy for each category as appropriate. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing projects to drive cost efficiencies and best business solutions. Together with your stakeholders, you will build long-term partnerships with suppliers and ensure agreed service levels are met.What does the role involve?
  • With an entrepreneurial & strategic mindset, you will challenge the status quo, taking calculated risks to drive and develop innovation from within.
  • You act as a change agent, bringing your stakeholders along the journey.
  • You keep abreast with external relevant trends and stay agile to adapt as appropriate to bring value to the organization.

What you need is:
  • Bachelor's degree / Masters in procurement, supply chain, IT, business or finance
  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement (strategic sourcing), supply chain, engineering, finance or project management in a multinational organization

Leadership & Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction and leadership to category sourcing in SESA.

Strategy Deployment: Define and deploy strategy for managing regional spend of the category, driving year-on-year value and benefits.

Lead and manage strategic supplier management regionally & globally.

Lead and deliver regional and global projects specifics to category.

Implement strategic cost management through e-tenders, negotiation, and contract management.

Ensure year-on-year value creation in line with company and functional goals.

Collaborate with the Category Technical Lead to develop a technical roadmap, including critical projects and initiatives.

Build and sustain a vendor base encompassing current and prospective vendors.

Contribute proactively to AkzoNobel’s Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi).

Develop alternate raw materials with the Business Unit Technical Lead, mitigating single/sole source material risks.

Job Requirement

Graduate in Science or Business Economics; Master’s preferred

5+ years in strategic sourcing with global/regional experience

Excellent English communication and influencing skills

Strong in change management and leading strategic projects

Skilled in negotiation, category management, and contract management

Proficient with SAP, BI tools, and data analysis

Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented

Flexible, agile, and stress-resistant

Experienced in international business environments

Job Description

We are looking for a Regional Category Manager based in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to develop ZALORA's Luxury outright portfolio.

Analysing luxury consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends are two really important responsibilities for this role.

The Category Manager will implement the merchandising strategies and ensure that product offer is in line with the customer demands whilst driving the business forward by negotiating contracts with new and existing suppliers. The Category Manager is responsible for maximizing commercial opportunities through effective management of inventory, driving sales through improved availability and forecasting, and price management.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with new and existing luxury suppliers by negotiating the best offers, margin structures and marketing investments
  • Formulate buying strategies, develop OTB plans and product mix allocation to optimize sales plan and gross margin
  • Monitor and drive the growth of the outright segment: create and execute a strategic plan that delivers business opportunities for Zalora Luxury with an accurate forecasting, future trends prediction and internal performance management/analysis
  • Monitor inventory, delivery situation to ensure timely product availability and maximize sales opportunities during the season and mega campaigns.
  • Handle various sets of daily, weekly and monthly business reports to improve visibility of category performance to senior management
  • Manage senior and junior fashion buyers who support the day to day operations and execute monthly orders
  • Liaise with internal departments and work with Marketing and Campaign Teams to incorporate luxury promotions into ZALORA’s marketing calendar
  • Work with the suppliers/internal teams to continuously improve operational aspects of the business that directly impact the customer experience: reduce the defective rate, improve the packaging, handle customer service inquiries, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in fashion merchandising/buying with international luxury retail companies preferred
  • Excellent English skills required
  • Bachelor in Business, Fashion, Finance or related field
  • Strong fashion sense, with working knowledge of South-East Asia markets
  • Exposure in e-commerce industry is preferred
  • Great negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to forge effective cross-functional team relationships and confidently interact with senior stakeholders internally and externally to deliver business outcomes
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment
  • Robust commercial understanding, P&L literacy with innate numerical and analytical skills and ability to derive insights from data.
  • Proactivity and entrepreneurial mindset to flex the needs of the role as the category develops
  • Advance working knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint; Tableau or Looker are preferred
