Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Design Engineer
with strong expertise in product and part design for CNC machining, 3D scanning, and additive manufacturing. This role will support our R&D and production teams by creating, refining, and optimizing designs that are ready for manufacturing. The ideal candidate should be proficient in
SolidWorks or CATIA
, should be capable of designing from scratch, modifying existing models, and preparing technical outputs for CNC, 3D printers and production.
This is a
freelance/part-time position
with flexibility for remote or hybrid work. Candidates with composites design experience will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Design & Modeling
: Develop detailed CAD models from scratch or based on specifications, ensuring manufacturability. - Design for Manufacturing
: Prepare models, assemblies, tolerances, and technical drawings optimized for CNC machining, 3D printing, and other production methods. - File Conversion & Communication
: Translate CAD data into production-ready formats and effectively communicate with CNC operators, 3D printing technicians, and production engineers. - Technical Outputs
: Generate assemblies, simulations (FEA, mold-flow where applicable), and drawings to support engineering and manufacturing processes. - Design Enablers
: Modify, refine, and offer design enablers to meet evolving requirements or client specifications. - Collaboration
: Work closely with R&D and production engineers to align design outputs with project needs and material considerations (including composites). - Innovation & Problem-Solving
: Propose creative and practical design solutions to improve performance, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of proven working experience as a CAD Design Engineer
in manufacturing, product design, or related industries. - Proficiency in
SolidWorks or CATIA
(mandatory).
Experience with additional CAD/CAM tools is a plus. - Strong portfolio of work demonstrating part/product design for CNC machining, 3D printing, or tooling.
- Ability to produce technical drawings, assemblies, and simulations (FEA, mold-flow).
- Knowledge or experience with
composite materials
is a strong advantage. - Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Design, or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred, though technical skills and practical experience are prioritized.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote/hybrid setup with
focus on time and quality

This role focuses on supporting Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) solutions, including structural, thermal, flow, and system simulations. You will collaborate closely with customers and internal sales teams to deliver technical expertise across both pre-sales and post-sales engagements. This is an exciting opportunity to advance your skills in engineering simulation tools and contribute to digital engineering transformation across leading manufacturing sectors in the region.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support: you will effectively meet Simcenter software portfolio (mainly Simcenter 3D and Simcenter Star-CCM+) technical support needs and communicate solutions to end-users via telephone, e-mail, and online;
- Training: you will provide training courses for our customers: onsite, at our in-house training facility, and over the internet;
- Applications Engineering: you will get to travel to customer manufacturing facilities to install Simcenter software and run test programs on their machines to prove the software capabilities;
- Demonstrations: you will provide technical pre-sales support demonstration and competitive analysis (benchmarking).
- To conduct pre-sales, project management, training, technical & post-implementation support activities for each project.
Requirements
- Candidate must be passionate with experience in engineering simulation or related field.
- Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Fresh graduate with a minimum Bachelor’s Degree certificate in Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering. Master degree is recommended.
- Able to work independently with minimum guidance.
- Interested in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), but no need to be expert in it.
- Possess valid driver’s license and own transport.
Skill
- Demonstrate good phone/email/text communication and onsite/online presentation skills
- Fluent in English written and verbal is essential
- Proficiency in essential computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Self-disciplined, Positive attitude and good team player
