We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Bridge Engineer with min. 6 or more years of relevant experience in the design and delivery of bridge and civil infrastructure projects in Malaysia and around the world. The successful candidate will lead design tasks, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in interfacing with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

Job Description

• Lead the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of bridges, viaducts, and other civil structures for both road and rail infrastructure.
• Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, BIM models, and design documentation prepared by junior engineers and drafters.
• Prepare and review technical reports, authority submissions , and respond to queries from authorities and clients and other statutory bodies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, ensuring design quality, safety, and constructability.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders during all project phases—design, tendering, construction, and post-construction support.
• Oversee and contribute to the preparation of tender documents , including technical specifications, method statements, and cost estimates.
• Participate in site inspections, technical audits , and construction supervision when required.
• Support project management functions including budgeting, progress tracking, and coordination with project directors and discipline leads.
• Drive innovation in design and delivery processes, including the use of digital tools and BIM platforms .

Job Specification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree is advantageous).
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in bridge and civil structure design in consultancy or contractor environment.
• Proven experience on infrastructure projects : rail and road bridges.
• Sound knowledge of Eurocodes , BS codes , and local authority standards and guidelines.
• Proficiency in structural design software such as SOFiSTiK, MIDAS Civil, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 , and understanding of BIM workflows (e.g., Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks).
• Strong technical report writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and manage technical deliverables to deadlines and budgets.
• Able to coordinate effectively across disciplines and communicate with clients and contractors.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registered with BEM or equivalent Chartered status (e.g. CEng, MICE, MIStructE) is a bonus.
• Experience in Design & Build or alternative delivery models .
• Familiarity with construction engineering , temporary works , and design for constructability .
• Experience in digital engineering , parametric design , or automation in design workflows is a plus.
• Location: Mid Valley City

Job Description

• Perform structural analysis, calculations, and create design sketches and drawings that convey the arrangement and design intent for various transportation structures particularly bridge structure.
• Conduct engineering assessments and evaluations, both for existing structures and potential structural alternatives, and prepare technical reports to document the findings.
• Lead, supervise, guide, and mentor a team of engineers and CAD technicians engaged in delivering consultancy services for significant infrastructure and transportation projects in Malaysia and internationally.
• Engage in communication and collaboration with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory authorities, and other relevant parties to gather design information, present design alternatives, and expedite approvals.
• Cultivate and nurture client relationships to explore and expand business opportunities.
• Verify design calculations and review detailed drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Deliver projects of exceptional quality, meeting project timelines and budget constraints.
• Provide technical leadership and foster the development of technical skills and capabilities within the team, particularly in the design of underground structures, major infrastructure, and transportation projects.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer with a Practicing Certificate.
• A cumulative experience of 6 to 8 years in structural design, particularly in bridge structures, and transportation-related projects.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, superiors, team members, and clients.
• Technical leadership expertise in soil-structure interaction and deep excavation works.
• Proven experience in leading teams of engineers and CAD technicians for the successful delivery of major infrastructure, transportation projects.
• Prepared to undertake responsibilities for regional projects located outside Malaysia.

+ **Experience in SBG Bridge Design (Segmental Box Girder).**
+ Technical leadership expertise in soil-structure interaction and deep excavation works.
+ Proven experience in leading teams of engineers and CAD technicians for the successful delivery of major infrastructure, transportation projects.
+ Prepared to undertake responsibilities for regional projects located outside Malaysia.

Job Description

• Perform preliminary and detailed structural analyses using both empirical methods and engineering software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ANSYS).
• Assist in the preparation of technical deliverables including structural calculation reports, design drawings, specifications, and construction method statements.
• Conduct basic civil and geotechnical assessments, including soil-structure interaction and foundation design reviews.
• Participate in the design of marine civil structures such as quay walls, dolphins, jetty trestles, and access bridges.
• Support the development of bill of quantities (BOQ), material take-offs (MTO), and cost estimates.
• Prepare technical presentations and summaries for internal and client reviews.
• Coordinate with drafting teams for preparation and review of design drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards.
• Perform QA/QC checks on structural calculations and design documentation.
• Attend internal and external design review meetings as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Hands-on experience with structural engineering software such as:
• STAAD.Pro
• SACS
• ANSYS (Structural module)
• Working knowledge in basic geotechnical and soil mechanics.

What You Should Have

We are seeking an Offshore Structural & Civil Engineer to support the design and analysis activities for offshore and nearshore projects, including fixed and floating structures, jetty and terminal civil works, and marine infrastructure components. The engineer will work under the supervision of senior engineers and project leads, contributing to both conceptual and detailed engineering phases.As part of the AFRY team, you will be involved in feasibility studies, conceptual design, technical due diligence, and basic engineering across LNG and Offshore wind projects in Asia.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil /Marine Naval Architect Engineering from a recognized university
• Experience of between 1 to 3 years in civil and marine design
• Familiar with both local and international design codes and standards, including but not limited to:
• Eurocode
• API (American Petroleum Institute)
• ASCE
• BS (British Standards)
• PIANC
• OCIMF
• Other relevant local or regional standards.
• Desirable/Added Advantage
• Experience in mooring system analysis and dynamic response modeling using:
• OrcaFlex
• MOSES
• ANSYS AQWA
• Familiarity with hydrodynamic load modeling, floating structure behavior, and environmental load applications.
• Involvement in Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT), FPSO, or FSRU projects is a plus.
• Exposure to metocean data interpretation and application in design load cases.
