Job Summary

This role will serve as the Solution Architect for Group Finance within Group Functions TTO. The Solution Architect will be part of the wider Functions Architecture Team and work closely with the various Domain Technology Teams to drive architecture strategy, roadmap, governance and provide architecture guidance. The role is expected to bring together business understanding and technology thought leadership to drive solution and design excellence in the respective domains.

Strategy
• Responsible for Solution Architecture for Group Finance within Group Functions TTO
• Responsible to work with other Solution Architects across Functions Architecture and Group Architecture to ensure that Group and Functions Architecture Strategies are executed within the area of responsibility.
• Responsible to work with Application Architects and Project Team to ensure that solutions are aligned to wider Functions/Group Architecture Strategy, Policy and Standards.
• Responsible to work with Application Architects, Project Team and Vendors to ensure that Patterns and Best Practices are being considered and applied appropriately.
• Responsible to work with Application Architects, Project Team and Vendors to understand and review Vendor product architecture and capabilities.

Business
• Responsible to collaborate with Business and Technology stakeholders (such as Technology Domain Heads and Global Heads, Domain Architect and Chief Architect) to drive alignment between Business, Architecture and Technology Strategies.
• Responsible to tech simplification to simplify technology estate, driving efficiency by identifying opportunities to rationalise to a fewer best of breed platforms which provides strategic business capability and aggressively decommission redundant applications.
• Contribute to investment planning/prioritisation with the businesses and T&I.
• Driving and enable cloud adoption and modernisation of technology landscape across respective domains whilst balancing regulatory requirements like data sovereignty and cloud approvals and data security.

Processes
• Responsible to review and ensure projects are implemented in line with approved architecture/target architecture.
• Responsible to work with Application Architects and Project teams on evaluations and Proof of Concepts for new technologies and other strategic technology initiatives
• Responsible to contribute to development of architecture strategy and standards for the organization
• Responsible for creating, maintaining or reviewing Domain/Sub-Domain level architecture documentation in the area of responsibility.
• Responsible for Reviewing Application / Project level architecture documentation from Application Architect/Project Team.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with architecture processes and any related deliverables or artifacts at the Domain/Sub-domain level are completed/met

Key Responsibilities

People & Talent
• The role will report to Head Architect/Domain Architect for Group Finance.
• Collaborate closely with Application Architect and Project team to provide guidance and drive architecture direction

Risk Management
• Responsible for proactively seeking regular assurance that function is performing to an acceptable risk and control standards.
• Responsible to act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and, if necessary, escalated through the relevant committees.
• Responsible to balance business performance delivery and cost management with risk and control matters to ensure that it does not materially threaten the Group, remaining within risk appetite.
• Responsible to work in collaboration with risk and control teams.

Governance
• Be a part of domain architecture governance forums to actively be aware of and govern emerging data architecture decisions, in alignment with Functions and wider Enterprise architecture
• Accountable for governance of all architecture decisions and architecture directions across relevant domains as part of Architecture Review Forums and Technology Councils.
• Ensure compliance with all salient SCB data governance frameworks where there are direct touchpoints with them or any subsequent downstream influence for Group Functions.
• Ensure compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes PRA SS2/21, SS2/22 as well as local banking laws and other regulatory laws as applicable.

• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 15 or more years of total experience.
• More than 10 years of relevant experience, in a hands-on role for solution architecture, preferably in banking.
• Experience in large, complex organisations, ability to handle cultural diversity and managing senior stakeholders.
• At least 3 years of experience with Finance Solutions and Platforms.
• At least 3 years of experience on developing enterprise applications using modern programming languages.
• Experience in data and advanced analytics is a plus.

The opportunity

EY’s Performance Improvement Technology Consulting professionals bring a wealth of experience in working with major financial institutions to align their operating model and infrastructure to their business’ strategic objectives. We assemble the right multi-disciplinary teams, use consistent and proven global methodologies and tools, and draw on the full breadth of EY’s global network, to deliver value and trusted advice to the clients. The key service offerings cover finance function transformation, customer and distribution effectiveness, operations, shared services / outsourcing support, performance management, program advisory, enterprise intelligence, risk management and regulatory change.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will enable, drive and lead initiatives focusing on establishing and embedding cloud architecture & design governance across the organization. Key functions include:

Architect & Design solutions for cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure) which are optimal, secure, efficient, scalable, resilient and reliable, and at the same time. are compliant with EY cloud standards and policies. Architect & Design solutions for Hybrid cloud, which are multi-tenant and geo distributed and meet EY’s data protection standards. Design strategies and tools to deploy, monitor, and administer Cloud applications and the underlying services for Cloud (e.g. Azure, AWS, private cloud) Architect and implement DevSecOps processes and CI/CD pipelines using tools like VSTS, Jira, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef. Collaborate with technology teams across EY Service Lines and vendor product teams helping them implement a productized strategy, consuming existing components while also greatly enhancing velocity of products through reuse. Work with engineering teams for designing, building & productionizing components that will grow in capability while being multi-tenant, global, scalable & highly available. Scout the technology landscape for emerging technologies, patterns and solutions that can benefit EY Technology & our customers (existing and new). Build quick POCs and write some code for exploring new technology solutions. Keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights. Evaluate technology and tools to enable the product ecosystem in E&Y. Evaluate and enhance ROI through experiments and bets on technologies and components.

To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Business Systems or any other relevant discipline At least 2 years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.) on cloud. Expert in defining, designing and developing distributed and scalable products and services, including reusable domain-specific microservices on multi-platform/hybrid clouds (such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Rackspace, VMware, or OpenStack). Experience with software and product development lifecycle (incl. coding, coding standards and reviews, source control, testing, debugging, build, deployment and operations). Familiarity in the following areas, but not limited to: Front end / UI technologies including frameworks such as React/Angular.js REST / Webservices (with high performance, multi-tenancy, global, scalable elements) SQL, XML, JSON, Linux, ELK stack, Splunk, Solr, GIT, Ant/Maven, Jenkins Familiarity with Data Ingestion, Analytics, AI technologies

Preferred Skills

Deep understanding of cloud computing and data technologies, business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options (preferably in Microsoft Azure) Experience with software and product development lifecycle (incl. coding, coding standards and reviews, source control, testing, debugging, build, deployment and operations). Microsoft Azure related certifications
