We are currently in the process of converting a mall into a REAL ONE STOP RENOVATION COMPANY with all the key building material and services including design and built all being available in ONE SINGLE LOCATION. Our motto is to solve all the stakeholders’ headache and to revolutionize the way home renovation is done.

We are looking for a Design Director and few Senior Designers with at least 8 years of working experience to lead the design teams.

The Design Director is a visionary leader responsible for shaping and executing the design direction of all our projects. This role oversees all aspects of interior design, from conceptualization to completion and blends artistic vision with practical execution, ensuring that spaces are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with client goals.

The Design Director and Senior designers will lead teams of designers, collaborates with architects, contractors and all other stakeholders, and drives innovation in design, materials, and user experience

Key responsibilities

Design Leadership & Strategy

For Design Director

§Define and execute the overall design vision, strategy, and standards .

§Ensure design consistent with practicality as well as customer’s preference

§Stay ahead of industry trends , emerging technologies, and design best practices.

For Senior Designers

§Develop initial design concepts including space planning, color schemes, and mood boards.

§Create detailed drawings and 3D models using CAD software.

§Specify furniture, fixtures, finishes, and materials.

Team Management & Development

§Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers

§Foster a collaborative and innovative design culture.

§Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career growth.

Project Oversight & Execution

§Oversee the end-to-end design process, from concept to delivery.

§Ensure projects meet customer’s objectives, budget, deadlines, and quality standards .

§Coordinate with architects, contractors, and vendors.

§Conduct site visits to ensure design appropriateness during construction.

§Review and approve design deliverables

Collaboration with others

§Work closely with marketing, product, engineering, and executive teams to align design with business goals.

§Present design concepts to stakeholders and ensure design principles are practical and take into account of client’s requirements.

§Maintain strong client relationships and identify new project opportunities.

§Mentor junior designers and guide their professional development.

§Partner with external agencies, freelancers, or vendors as needed.

Compliance & Standards

§Ensure designs meet building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability goals.

§Prepare construction documentation and technical specifications

Key requirements

Qualifications

§Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.

§At least 8 years in interior design, with minimum 4 years in a leadership role

Technical Skills

§Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering tools.

§Knowledge of material sourcing, sustainable/alternative materials, and construction methods.

Soft Skills

§Strong client-facing and negotiation abilities.

§Strategic thinker with a keen eye for aesthetics, functionality and money savings opportunities

§Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multidisciplinary teams.

§Paying attention to details to avoid mistake and double work

Other Preferred Skills of Experience (Preferred but not required)

§Ability to communicate Mandarin, English, Bahasa Malaysia

§Experience in international projects or cross-cultural design.

§Background in home, retail, or workplace design.

§Ability to work Independently as well as to lead a team when necessary

Remuneration

Salary: RM6,000.00 – RM15,000.00 per month depend on experience

First, Let Us Introduce You To Grab Creative Studio

  • Grab Creative Studio is spread across the markets in which we operate. The Singapore Creative Team is based in Malaysia, alongside the Regional and Malaysia teams, which means you'll be part of a big, sometimes noisy bunch :)
  • We're responsible for building the Grab brand and maintaining its integrity across the region.
  • Our mission is to build brand love in everything we do and create memorable experiences for our users through purposeful creative work.
  • You will report into the Executive Creative Director, Regional and be based in Petaling Jaya, working onsite.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will be co-leading the Singapore Creative Team with a copy-based CD, working directly with the Regional ECD and Country Marketing Leads.
  • You will also have the opportunity to work on Regional projects on occasions.
  • You will be responsible for setting and pushing the standards of the Creative team, ensuring that only the highest quality of visuals/copy that are on brand leave the door.
  • You will be working and aligning with Marketing to develop strategies, tactics, and ideas that don't just meet the numbers, but also build the brand.
  • As Grab is a fast-paced company, you will be managing multiple projects at any given time and working with Creative Producers to ensure the team is productive, motivated, and delivering work that meets your high standards.
  • You will be leading the design and development of effective communications and brand campaigns, which include digital creative work such as online display ads and in-app comms as well as customer experience design.
  • You will be providing guidance for the juniors, together with other senior Creatives in the Regional Creative team.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You have at least 12 years of agency experience, where you have led and executed large integrated campaigns (including for digital marketing).
  • You must submit a portfolio that showcases your excellent visual design and conceptualisation skills.
  • You have strong technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • You have formal design training in art or other design disciplines, plus a working knowledge of copywriting.
  • You have strong communication skills in managing stakeholders from all levels.
  • You have experience not just in managing art directors and copywriters but also in guiding the team to produce excellent creative work consistently.
  • You have experience in managing workflow for the development of multiple creative assets.

First, let us introduce you to Grab Creative Studio:

  • Grab Creative Studio is spread across the markets in which we operate. The Singapore Creative Team is based in Malaysia, alongside the Regional and Malaysia teams, which means you'll be part of a big, sometimes noisy bunch :)
  • We're responsible for building the Grab brand and maintaining its integrity across the region.
  • Our mission is to build brand love in everything we do and create memorable experiences for our users through purposeful creative work.
  • You will report into the Executive Creative Director, Regional and be based in Petaling Jaya, working onsite.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will be co-leading the Singapore Creative Team with a copy-based CD, working directly with the Regional ECD and Country Marketing Leads.
  • You will also have the opportunity to work on Regional projects on occasions.
  • You will be responsible for setting and pushing the standards of the Creative team, ensuring that only the highest quality of visuals/copy that are on brand leave the door.
  • You will be working and aligning with Marketing to develop strategies, tactics, and ideas that don't just meet the numbers, but also build the brand.
  • As Grab is a fast-paced company, you will be managing multiple projects at any given time and working with Creative Producers to ensure the team is productive, motivated, and delivering work that meets your high standards.
  • You will be leading the design and development of effective communications and brand campaigns, which include digital creative work such as online display ads and in-app comms as well as customer experience design.
  • You will be providing guidance for the juniors, together with other senior Creatives in the Regional Creative team.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You have at least 12 years of agency experience, where you have led and executed large integrated campaigns (including for digital marketing).
  • You must submit a portfolio that showcases your excellent visual design and conceptualisation skills.
  • You have strong technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • You have formal design training in art or other design disciplines, plus a working knowledge of copywriting.
  • You have strong communication skills in managing stakeholders from all levels.
  • You have experience not just in managing art directors and copywriters but also in guiding the team to produce excellent creative work consistently.
  • You have experience in managing workflow for the development of multiple creative assets.
