Job Description

We're not hiring a "Creative Director" to sit in meetings.

We're looking for a hands-on creative lead who gets how to move fast, think smart, and design for impact.

You'll be the
creative counterpart to the founder,

working side-by-side to translate strategy into scroll-stopping, store-shelf-staring, conversion-hitting visuals across a growing multi-brand portfolio. From packaging to landing pages, from reels to retail activations, you'll shape how our brands show up to the world.

We don't separate "branding" from "performance"; we believe every visual should
convert or connect

. You'll help lead that charge.

And most importantly, you need to be someone who
loves experimenting with AI

. Whether it's Midjourney for visuals, GPT for conceptual hooks, or custom workflows that help us deliver faster, we want someone who's
actively pushing the boundaries

of what creative teams can do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own creative direction across all agency clients and campaigns
  • Build and lead a lean creative team (designer, video editor, freelancers, etc. - yes, you get to hire your own team)
  • Use AI tools actively

(Midjourney, DALL·E, ChatGPT, Runway, etc.) to speed up ideation and execution
- Translate strategy into execution

— not just decks, but real creative that lands
- Review and approve assets for social, ads, packaging, websites, branding, and decks
- Collaborate with performance, copy, and brand ops to launch campaigns across multiple platforms
- Build creative systems, templates, and feedback loops for faster, more effective output
- Challenge the founder when needed — not to slow things down, but to push them further

What We're Looking For

Experiences:

  • 6–10 years in creative or art direction

, ideally across agency and in-house roles
- Portfolio that includes: ad creative, visual identity, landing pages, packaging, and social content
- Experience across multiple industries

(beauty, wellness, F&B, DTC, tech preferred)
- Has led or mentored small teams

— and delivered big ideas with lean resources

Skills:

  • Art direction, layout, branding, type, digital design
  • Strong understanding of creative–strategy–performance alignment
  • Hands-on with AI tools (or actively learning and building with them)
  • Can brief, manage, and quality control across multiple creative formats
  • Comfortable juggling multiple brand voices and tones without confusion
  • Bonus: motion, video, 3D, or creative automation experience

Mindset:

  • Curious, adaptive, obsessed with growth (personal and brand-level)
  • Not a "yes man" — challenges ideas when needed, refines them when right
  • Believes that
    taste is a weapon

, and that AI is an amplifier, not a replacement
- Loves building: systems, brands, creative culture, and standout moments
- Calm under pressure, decisive with feedback, and thrives in creative chaos

Why This Role is Different:

  • You'll
    work directly with the founder

, not just of an agency, but multiple ventures and businesses.
- You'll be
part of the strategy

, not just reacting to it
- You'll have the chance to shape
multiple real-world brands

at different stages.
- You'll experiment with
AI workflows

and help reimagine the creative process
- You'll build the
creative backbone of the group

, with freedom to innovate

Compensated & Perks:

  • Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience, portfolio, and leadership ability)
  • Performance bonuses tied to brand growth and impact
  • Access to brand perks (products, treatments, events, marketing resources)
  • Flexibility to test and build your own tools/systems
  • Equity opportunities possible

How to Apply:

  • Your portfolio — highlight both branding
    and

conversion-driven work
- A short note:
How have you used AI in your creative process so far?
- Bonus: Show us one piece of work you're proud of — and one you'd redo, and why

Day in and day out, we propel some of the biggest brands in the world to the intersection of attention and culture. In APAC, we are proudly +300, servicing a diverse client all around the region.

The PITCH
We are creators, creative industry rogues, and SuperBowl stars. We are not just on the internet; we are creating the stuff the internet wants to see. We're insane for what we do and the people we do it with. We move so fast and make so much good shit that we can't even keep up with ourselves. So, we need more folks just like us, the unconventional, less-obvious, unseasoned (or over seasoned ) creative pros. But above all - passionate makers and culture shakers.

Want in? We love subversive artists, obsessive makers, dedicated creators and we don't care if you're a baby fresh to the workforce or working on your third act. What's your hustle? Documentarian? DJ? Sports junkie? Fashionista? Blogger? Vlogger? Retired logger? Are you an Insta-feind? An unabashed Tik Tokker or Youtuber? Or both? We're down with all of that. Just as long as you love making content and are really good at it.

This is a full time role based in Malaysia with a reporting role to the Country Manager in Malaysia.

Are you based in Malaysia? Geeking the content religiously in the Malaysian market? Fluent in Malay? Oh well, we could be meant to be ---

We're looking for a Creative Director who lives and breathes beauty, lifestyle, and social storytelling.

Who You Are

You're not just a creative thinker—you're a creator. Your portfolio isn't a PDF; it's living and breathing on social. You've built audiences, driven engagement, and turned cultural insights into breakthrough creative work. If your social handles can win you an interview, you're already one foot in.

What You'll Do
  1. Lead, Make, Repeat: You're not just here to direct; you're in the trenches, making daily. You lead by getting your hands dirty—concepting, writing, designing, and even editing when needed. You move fast, iterate, and set the creative pace for the team.
  2. Editor-in-Chief Mindset: You understand people, what they care about, and what's happening in the culture of beauty and lifestyle. You don't just follow trends—you predict, shape, and react to them in real time.
  3. Social Performance Obsessed: You don't just make creative—you study how it performs, why it works (or doesn't), and turn those insights into sharper, more effective ideas.
  4. Culture-First, Not Ad-First: You know that most times, the best work isn't an ad. It's a conversation, a movement, or a moment people actually care about. You have the instinct to create things that feel native, human, and worth engaging with.
  5. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with strategy, media, and production teams to ensure ideas don't just look good, but work.
  6. Pitch & Present: Sell ideas to clients with confidence, backed by cultural insights and platform knowledge.
What You Need
  • A strong, social-native portfolio showcasing your work in beauty and lifestyle (If you don't have one, build one).
  • 6+ years in an agency or brand-side creative role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven track record of building brand love on social.
  • Deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms—you know what works and why.
  • Ability to concept, write, and direct with agility—whether it's a full-fledged campaign or a reactive meme.
  • Experience working with production teams, creators, and influencers to bring ideas to life.
  • A POV on what's next in beauty, lifestyle, and digital culture.
  • Your personal or past brand work has built an audience, driven engagement, or gone viral.
  • You have beauty and lifestyle experience (brand or agency side).
  • You can sell an idea in 15 seconds or less.
  • You have social-at-the-centre craft and aesthetics—knowing how to create for the feed, for the scroll, and for engagement, not just a polished 30-second film.
  • If your socials can get you an interview, you're already ahead. Drop your handles, show us what you've got, and let's talk.
What you should know about VaynerMedia

Think "lab" and not "agency". We get excited about solving business problems, not creating advertising for the sake of making advertising. Our entrepreneurship DNA runs deep. We're willing to break rules, try new things, and test hypotheses if it means better understanding our craft. It's fun!

Our environment (and pace) feels much more like a start-up than most agencies you might be used to. Hopefully that, and the opportunity to collaborate with the talented and enthusiastic crew, work with big brands excites you, as it does us. We can't wait to meet you.

P.S Portfolio would be nice :)
