The Area Manager is responsible for the direct supervision and support of a cluster of U Mobile stores within a specific geographical area. This role requires a dynamic and results-oriented individual with strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
The Area Manager will be accountable for ensuring stores meet sales targets, operational standards, and deliver excellent customer experience.
About You
Sales Management:
- Directly manage, coach, and motivate Store Managers within their assigned area.
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly sales performance and operational efficiency of individual stores in their area.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve business objectives within their designated area.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse results and feedback, and implement corrective actions to ensure targets are met.
- Conduct regular store visits to assess performance, identify training needs, and ensure adherence to brand standards.
- Address escalated customer issues and maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Oversee the product lifecycle, ensure good planning and execution for launching new products, and driving consumer engagement in store.
- Manage and guide a team of professionals, fostering a high-performance UM culture and providing mentorship.
- Ensure optimal staffing levels and staff capabilities within their area stores.
- Resolve operational issues that arise within the stores.
- analyse local market trends and competitor activities to inform area strategies.
- Staying abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform business decisions.
- Overseeing the product lifecycle, ensure good plannings and execution for launching new products, and driving consumer engagement in store.
- Collaborating with various internal teams and external partners like mall managements or vendors to drive business growth and ensure smooth operations.
- Managing allocated resources effectively and ensuring cost-efficiency for the store productivity and profitability

Responsibilities
- Having strong leadership skills to lead, improve performance, motivate, and manage team members in providing the best DobiQueen service to customers.
- Ensuring compliance with all operational standards including service quality, customer service, sales, and internal operations control.
- Improving branch performance through increased sales, evaluation and control of expenses, and considering cost savings.
- Responsible for workforce planning and recruitment, identifying necessary training for team members, capable of training and guiding team members in terms of weekly sales goals, general store management, systematic operations, and customer service objectives.
- Supervising and evaluating Outlet Supervisors in terms of branch cleanliness, sales generation, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Reviewing and ensuring that daily/weekly/monthly reports are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Implementing and ensuring the effectiveness of branch administration management, stock control, and safety.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of operations across all outlet environmental functions along with compliance with store policies and procedures.
- Planning and managing marketing at the branch and implementing marketing campaigns, as well as communicating with marketing officers and HQ to ensure Point of Sales Materials are delivered to the outlet and displayed on time.
- Implementing token level reviews at the branch, overall CDM reports, and being responsible for preparing sales collection and daily cleaning schedules for the entire operational group at the outlet.
- Handling and responding to customer complaints when necessary.
Requirements
- Good communication skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia
- Candidate must possess at least a Certificate / Diploma or above

- Conduct promotional events and activities at the targeted outdoor locations towards the migrant workers such as road shows, distribute leaflets, posters, newsletters and banner at migrant premises, night marketing at migrant’s hostel or festival program.
- Participate in any promotional activities and road shows at stores, working with Marketing Manager and respective corridor champions.
- Identifying and proposing locations of business opportunities or expansion of market share for Ria branding and advertising in all regions under his/her supervision to the Regional Manager and District Manager.
- Conduct visits to stores, both scheduled and unscheduled. Scheduled visits to each store must be made at least twice every month.An unscheduled visit can be made randomly or as and when needed. Areas where compulsory checks are to be conducted on each visit: Operations checklist, Security checklist, Petty cash, foreign currencies, General expenses, Capital expenditures, Cash holdings, Business volume, and Complaints received and resolved, Staffing matters.
- Conduct periodic checks to ensure that all stores adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines and instructions issued by Head Office and Regulatory Authorities.
- Submit a comprehensive report and present on each store’s visits to the Regional Manager and District Manager.
- Escalate issues relating to crisis or impending crisis that may lead to declaration of disaster, which necessitates the invocation of Business Continuity Plan.
- In addition, in the day-to-day job, the Area Manager will have to:

- Conduct promotional events and activities at the targeted outdoor locations towards the migrant workers such as road shows, distribute leaflets, posters, newsletters and banner at migrant premises, night marketing at migrant’s hostel or festival program.
- Participate in any promotional activities and road shows at stores, working with Marketing Manager and respective corridor champions.
- Identifying and proposing locations of business opportunities or expansion of market share for Ria branding and advertising in all regions under his/her supervision to the Regional Manager and District Manager.
- Conduct visits to stores, both scheduled and unscheduled. Scheduled visits to each store must be made at least twice every month.An unscheduled visit can be made randomly or as and when needed. Areas where compulsory checks are to be conducted on each visit: Operations checklist, Security checklist, Petty cash, foreign currencies, General expenses, Capital expenditures, Cash holdings, Business volume, and Complaints received and resolved, Staffing matters.
- Conduct periodic checks to ensure that all stores adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines and instructions issued by Head Office and Regulatory Authorities.
- Submit a comprehensive report and present on each store’s visits to the Regional Manager and District Manager.
- Escalate issues relating to crisis or impending crisis that may lead to declaration of disaster, which necessitates the invocation of Business Continuity Plan.

Report to the Regional Manager and District Manager on a regular and timely basis to ensure that he/she is fully and correctly briefed in all aspects of your work.
Provide a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly report plan and how it compares against agreed targets.

Job Description
Strategically manage and promote sales culture within a District of 8-12 stores to achieve or exceed sales, KPI’s, and profitability goals to position PUMA to be the Fastest Sports Brand in the world.
Task 1: Deliver on Set Targets and KPIs
- Deliver on set retail P&L and KPI targets and identify opportunities and initiate plans to improve and grow the business by increasing store productivity (e.g. Conversion Rate, UPT, ATV, Sales per hour and sqm).
- Increase comp sales of all PUMA stores by setting & driving SMART targets and implementing operating plans locally.
- Closely monitor business performance and take necessary action.
- Proactively manage Store-related OPEX with particular emphasis on Personnel Expenses.
Task 2: Operations Standards / Store Management
- Adopt and implement global/regional Operational Tools and Standards.
- Execute country-specific operational policies and procedures (per Global Retail Operation Manual) to ensure they are compliant with International/Global Retail standards.
- Deliver all operational standards for store openings (with Daily Game Plan), closings, relocation, upgrades, stock replenishment, inventory management, staff roster etc, to ensure smooth implementation and that budgets and timelines are met.
- Coach and lead local Retail Operations Teams to ensure Area- and Store Managers’ capabilities and competencies are developed and comply with International/Global standards.
- Manage all operational aspects of store inventories, including defining in-store shipment processes, coordinating stock takes and ensuring data integrity. Work with Merchandise and Planning team to manage store inventory level to ensure optimal stock to support sales targets.
- Manage country loss prevention standards and ensure that shrink goals are met and security is to PUMA standard.
- Execute VM guidelines in accordance with Global VM Survival Guide and RESEC.
- Guide, coach and train retail staff in all aspects of retail operations and retail training, working with close co-operation with the Country Retail Trainer. Support retail field training programs and roll-out of training initiatives.
- Execute the Customer Experience Program and use it to improve Retail Sales and customer service standards.
- Tailor Regional and International operational initiatives to meet Country needs including translation of material and execute these according to designated timeline and budget.
Task 3: Cross Functional Relationship
- Work effectively with Retail support functions for country specific projects and needs.
- Establish collaborative and effective relationships with Country Retail Manager, Retail Training, Retail Marketing, Merchandising Manager, E-Commerce Director etc.
Task 4: Process Improvement
- Set and implement best practices on Operations Management via cross-functional and cross-channel collaboration. Drive process improvements and strategic priorities in the country.
Task 5: Teams
- Drive and coach country Operations teams to ensure that they are motivated and capable of managing the business effectively.
- Work closely with Country Retail Training teams to identify the relevant developmental needs for store teams to ensure that training programs are targeted, relevant and conducted effectively.
- Work closely with country support functions and wholesale teams.
- Identify talent within the staff pool and develop them as part of succession planning.
- Develop strong store management team and secure succession plan through effective hiring, development, training and staff retention programs.
Education: Bachelor 'degree in business management or equivalent studied.
Professional: Functional: Minimum 5 years retail operations experience and 2-3 years from a similar position with a Global Brand in a customer service-oriented environment (preferably apparel/footwear/sports/outdoor)
Leadership: Minimum 2 years of managerial experience. Experience in managing multiple stores required.
IT Skills: MS Excel; Basic computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint
Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills including English at business level
