Job Purposes

• To design, develop, and maintain test automation scripts that enhance testing efficiency, expand test coverage, and improve the overall reliability of key software functionalities.
• The ideal candidate will ensure the quality and stability of software products through robust, automated testing and continuous refinement of testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for one of the company's core solutions (e.g. Regulatory Payment Solutions), covering end-to-end integrated application flows.
• Perform manual testing as needed to gain insights for effective automation strategies.
• Design and implement test automation solutions that improve test coverage, efficiency and reliability across multiple product modules and sub-components.
• Collaborate closed with development teams to understand new features, define testing requirements, and ensure testability.
• Execute automated test suites, analyse test results, and verify application behavior against expected outcomes, including screen functionality and database validations.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced automation and lead implementation efforts to optimize testing efforts.
• Log, track, and manage defects through resolution, working collaboratively with software engineers to ensure high-quality releases.
• Create and maintain reusable test automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing efforts.
• Communicate automated testing progress, results and key quality metrics to relevant stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in test automation and quality engineering.

Job Requirements

• Candidate should possess a Diploma / Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Test Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
• Preferably at least 2 - 3 years of related working experience, or in Software Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of automation tools (e.g. TestNG, Playwright, Pytest, Katalon, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, etc.)
• Expertise in at least 2 key areas of testing - web, mobile, API/backend, security, performance.
• Proficient in programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, C, C#, etc) and SQL queries.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Bitucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
• Fintech Banking, Financial Institutions, Cards & Payments, and IT Industry.
• Familiarity with Moden Tech Stack and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong understanding of Software Development, Soreware Testing methodologies and principle, Competencies & Skills.
• Good communication skills in English language for both spoken and written

What's the role? The purpose of the role is to design, develop, test, and operate a complex set of applications or platforms in a specific area. We are looking for a passionate Test Automation Engineer with at least 8+ years of experience to join one of our strategic IT locations: PJ, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and work closely with many other colleagues from HILTI globally. As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be part of The Application Landscape Management Team. Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Gather business requirements and translate them into a technical solution. Design, develop, and execute the test automation scripts. Actively resolve and improve test automation passing rate to establish long-term solutions. Keep up to date with the latest industry developments in Enterprise test automation. Work closely with team members to build automated test suites to verify the quality, security, and scalability. The Product Owner will guide you to understand our existing test automation framework and development guidelines and support you in collaborating with the stakeholders.

Your contribution will ensure the quality of our IT systems and deliver tangible values to Hilti Business now and in the future. Therefore, we are focusing on building the in-house Test Automation expertise, and here we want you to grow your career with us and be part of our exciting journey!

This role provides a unique opportunity to work on multiple test automation frameworks, manage test automation suites as a product, and work closely with stakeholders. You should possess good teamwork skills, a high level of coordination skills, and confidence in front of stakeholders.

What you need is:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science or related technical discipline with a Cumulative Grade Point Average > 3.0. Proficient with any common programming languages and debugging skills. A good understanding of the fundamentals of Software Testing methodologies and strong knowledge of any Test Automation frameworks, especially Tricentis Tosca, is an advantage. Ensure high quality of deliverables while enforcing test automation design best practices. Practical experience in Agile Software Development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban is an advantage. Excellent interpersonal skills and well-balanced, adaptive communication style; ability to explain complex topics in simple terms. About the role:

Automation Test Engineers focus on automation and work in parallel with their peers on larger test automation projects. You demonstrate a thorough understanding of test automation frameworks and contribute to their support and maintenance. You proactively coach junior members of your group to develop a stronger testing team. You tackle QA issues while adhering to Nintex’s Secure Software Development Lifecycle and other relevant guidelines. You display proficiency in a variety of industry-standard testing tools and quickly pick up new test automation technologies. You have an in-depth understanding of testing concepts and techniques. You are a vital member of the testing team and help your team make meaningful progress.

Your contribution will be:

• You create both end-to-end and integration tests independently.
• You independently create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and ensure their smooth operation.
• You have hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium/Appium/Cucumber ; and version control e.g. Git
• You write moderately complex code to mock-out services for supporting testing activities.
• You independently diagnose the root cause of defects and enable engineers to fix them on time.
• You assist in automating non-functional tests with tools that align with Nintex engineering principles.
• You attend and contribute to team meetings and ceremonies (daily scrum meetings, planning meetings, demos, and retrospective meetings).
• You proactively learn from others' testing and test automation best practices while prioritizing learning to support your delivery team.
• You own testing activities, seek functional clarity from stakeholders where required, and collaborate on acceptance criteria, manual testing, and automation.
• You proactively communicate to your team and delivery manager on your work status and seek any help required.

About the role: Automation Test Engineers focus on automation and work in parallel with their peers on larger test automation projects. You demonstrate a thorough understanding of test automation frameworks and contribute to their support and maintenance. You proactively coach junior members of your group to develop a stronger testing team. You tackle QA issues while adhering to Nintex’s Secure Software Development Lifecycle and other relevant guidelines. You are a vital member of the testing team and help your team make meaningful progress. Your contribution will be: You create both end-to-end and integration tests independently. You independently create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and ensure their smooth operation. You have hands-on experience with automation tools such as

Selenium/Appium/Cucumber ; and version control e.g.

Git You write moderately complex code to mock-out services for supporting testing activities. You independently diagnose the root cause of defects and enable engineers to fix them on time. You assist in automating non-functional tests with tools that align with Nintex engineering principles. You attend and contribute to team meetings and ceremonies (daily scrum meetings, planning meetings, demos, and retrospective meetings). You proactively learn from others' testing and test automation best practices while prioritizing learning to support your delivery team. You own testing activities, seek functional clarity from stakeholders where required, and collaborate on acceptance criteria, manual testing, and automation. You proactively communicate to your team and delivery manager on your work status and seek any help required. You coach junior team members on the product domain and functions. IT Systems Software Analysis & Programming focuses on programming & configuration of IT Systems Software (i.e. software for use in operating/controlling hardware and providing a platform for running internal end user/business applications). The work includes:
•Identifying and analyzing business needs, conducting requirements gathering, and defining scope and objectives for the IT System
•Developing programming specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts
•Writing code in lower-level programming languages to optimize the performance and efficiency of an organization’s IT platform/infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation Scripts Development

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for one of the company’s core products (e.g., Cardworks), covering end-to-end integrated application flows.
• Perform manual testing as needed to gain insights for effective automation strategies.
• Design and implement test automation solutions that improve test coverage, efficiency, and reliability across multiple product modules and sub-components.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to understand new features, define testing requirements, and ensure testability.
• Execute automated test suites, analyse test results, and verify application behaviour against expected outcomes, including screen functionality and database validations.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced automation and lead implementation efforts to optimize testing efforts.
• Log, track, and manage defects through resolution, working collaboratively with developers to ensure high-quality releases.
• Create and maintain reusable test automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing efforts.
• Communicate automated testing progress, results, and key quality metrics to relevant stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in test automation and quality engineering.
  
  

Mentorship & Leadership

• Mentor and coach junior TAEs in test automation best practices, frameworks, and tool usage.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on test scripts written by junior team members to ensure quality and consistency.
• Establish and promote standards for coding, documentation, and testing within the automation team.
• Lead by example in following testing and development best practices, setting a strong technical and professional standard.
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions or training workshops to upskill the team in emerging tools, frameworks, or techniques.
• Support onboarding of new team members by introducing them to automation processes and tools.
• Guide test strategy and planning, particularly in identifying what should be automated and prioritizing automation efforts.
• Collaborate with QA leads and developers to align automation efforts with project goals and timelines.

Academic Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Test Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
  
  

Professional Qualification (Optional)

• ISTQB-CTFL (Certified Tester Foundation Level)
• ISTQB-CT-TAE (Certified Tester Test Automation Engineer)
  
  

Min Years Of Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Test Automation Engineer, or in Software Engineering with a focus on testing.
  
  

Experience In

• Strong knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Katalon, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, etc.).
• Expertise in at least 2 key areas of testing – web, mobile, API/backend, security, performance.
• Proficient in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C, C#, etc.) and SQL queries.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
• Fintech, Banking, Financial Institutions, Cards & Payments, and IT industry.
