Position Overview

The Farm Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of agricultural activities within the plantation. This role covers crop planning, land preparation, planting, pest and disease management, harvesting, and post-harvest processes. The Farm Manager will ensure sustainable farming practices, cost efficiency, and high-quality crop production while leading and motivating the farm workforce.

Key Responsibilities

1. Farm Operations

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily agricultural operations including soil preparation, planting, fertilization, irrigation, crop protection, and harvesting.

  • Monitor crop health and growth to ensure optimum yield and quality.

  • Implement sustainable and modern farming practices (organic farming, integrated pest management, precision farming where applicable).


2. Resource & Equipment Management

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm machinery, tools, and infrastructure.

  • Manage procurement and stock of agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies.

  • Optimize land use and resources to improve productivity.


3. Workforce Management

  • Supervise, train, and lead farm workers to achieve operational efficiency.

  • Plan work schedules, delegate tasks, and monitor performance.

  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of all workers in line with regulations.


4. Budget & Reporting

  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of farm budgets and cost control measures.

  • Keep accurate records of farm activities, production, expenses, and yield data.

  • Report regularly to management on farm performance, challenges, and improvement plans.


5. Compliance & Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with agricultural standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.

  • Promote sustainable farming practices to preserve soil fertility, biodiversity, and water resources.


Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plantation Management, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in farm/plantation management (preferably in large-scale agriculture).

  • Strong knowledge of crop management, soil health, irrigation systems, and pest/disease control.

  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Good organizational and communication abilities.

  • Willing to work on-site in plantation/agricultural settings.

What You'll Do

    • Lead strategic planning for the companys assets, including evaluating opportunities for acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers.
    • Oversee the management and performance of existing assets, ensuring optimal utilization and returns.
    • Develop strategies for maximizing the value of company assets, including real estate, investments, and other key holdings.
  • Treasury & Capital Management:
    • Manage and oversee treasury operations, ensuring effective cash flow management, liquidity, and the strategic allocation of funds.
    • Develop capital structure strategies, including debt and equity financing to support business growth and acquisitions.
    • Assess investment opportunities and risks, providing actionable insights to the executive team and the Board.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
    • Lead financial due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
    • Evaluate the financial impact of deals and negotiate terms that align with company objectives.
    • Ensure seamless integration of acquired entities, focusing on the maximization of value from acquisitions.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Provide expert guidance on long-term financial planning and investment strategies that align with the company's goals.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to support the company's growth and expansion through strategic asset and financial management.
    • Drive initiatives for cost reduction and efficiency improvement across company assets.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and manage financial risks related to assets and investments.
    • Develop strategies to hedge against potential market volatility or economic shifts that may impact asset performance.

  • Operational Oversight:
    • Ensure efficient operations across property, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors, driving productivity and performance improvements.
    • Ensure all businesses adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role or senior strategy leadership role.
  • Those with GLC & investment banking experience will be added advantage.
  • Proven track record of success in leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial modeling software
  • ACCA or CFA qualification (Preferred)
  • Strong banking network to help with fund raising and re-financing (Preferred)
  • Prior experience with Sell-Side, M&A and cross border transactions (Preferred)

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role or senior strategy leadership role. Those with GLC & investment banking experience will be added advantage. Proven track record of success in leading and developing high-performing finance teams. Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles and financial reporting Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinking and business acumen. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial modeling software ACCA or CFA qualification (Preferred) Strong banking network to help with fund raising and re-financing (Preferred) Prior experience with Sell-Side, M&A and cross border transactions (Preferred)

**The** **Role:** **Agriculture & Food, Fertilizers SEIG lead - APAC/EMEA, Strategic Engagement & Intelligence Group**
**The Team:**
The role functions as a key member of the Global Strategic Engagement & Intelligence Group for the agriculture & food and fertilizers sectors. It involves working with internal and external stakeholders, leading the development of global and regional strategic engagement plans, and ensuring the execution of these projects. The regional focus is for APAC and EMEA, and the role will be expected to work closely with the Agriculture & Food, Fertilizers SEIG lead - Americas/EMEA counterpart, whose regional focus is Americas and EMEA.
Based in Gurgaon, the Engagement Lead will be tasked with driving external engagements across critical markets in agriculture & food and fertilizers. The successful candidate will represent MRTS/Platts at key meetings globally and work on special projects as needed.
**The Impact:**
This role will be critical in elevating Platts' visibility in the global, agriculture & food and fertilizers markets, driving market research and development in the region, and supporting engagement efforts. This role will contribute to the increasing demand for internal and external engagements amid growth in the space.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Work closely with agriculture & food and fertilizers sectors and cross-commodity SEIG team members sectors to drive and biofuels to drive engagement strategy in line with editorial goals
+ Facilitate engagement strategy planning with global and regional editorial teams
+ Support execution of the plan, including setting up meetings and supporting commercially requested meetings
+ Collaborate with content-commercial on the Value Add program
+ Drive best practice for market engagement, including: development of high quality presentation content; development of high quality meeting notes; demonstrating strong presentation and meeting communication skills; demonstrate strong planning skills.
+ Participate/collaborate in methodology planning and development in the region, such as in the technical workshops and Methodology Explained webinars.
+ Contribute to social media content development (blogs; podcasts; webinars)
**What We're Looking For:**
+ Strong understanding of agriculture & food and fertilizers markets and experience engaging clients or sources in these markets
+ Market coverage experience, preferably across agriculture markets. Methodology development experience.
+ Multilingual skills a plus
+ Foundational experience in leadership and influencing skills. Excellent planning, time management, and project execution skills
+ Strong communication skills, including: Public speaking experience; internal and external stakeholder management; good listening skills; and strong written and oral capabilities
+ Exercises critical thinking
+ Willingness to travel 40% or more
+ Undergraduate degree with master's preferable
