E. Overall Purpose Of The Job As Occupational Health Nurse (OHN), the nurse is primarily accountable to coordinate all Occupational Health related activities on site as guided by Occupational Health Doctor (OHD). As Medic – Onshore, the nurse plays an integral role to support other medics at site in any emergency health care services to the workforce working at client site, oversees all aspects of clinical and medical management within the clinic, including medical evacuation support. F. Key Responsibilities Undertake clinical consultations and provide the requisite standard of service and care to patients attending the clinic. Develop and ensure continuity of patient care and appropriate follow-up and referral. Assist with the implementation of preventative medical care strategies, including structuring and performing medical screening services. Manage the delivery of competent and professional health services according to International SOS standards. Assist with ensuring appropriate patient triage and flow within the clinic. Coordinate with the International SOS Assistance Centres (AC) and Coordinating Doctors the procedures required and preparation of patients to facilitate evacuation. Quality Assurance and Administration Work with the Chief Medical Advisor to optimise quality assurance and ensure that appropriate medical outcomes are consistently attained with respect to the provision of clinic services. Implement and follow at any time the Medical Services escalation procedure currently operating while managing medical cases at site. Escalate to / inform and seek advice from relevant AC regarding any prescriptive medications being made on site. Ensure patient’s medical files and documentation are maintained to the requisite standards and in accordance with International SOS standards for clinic services. Assist in the maintenance, selection and control of the medical equipment and supplies available in the clinic when requested or required. Ensure an effective and organized delivery of medical services through a self-audit program. Track and report data on clinic utilization by using the standard in the approved format. Periodically self-audit the clinic standards and SOPP by using the self-audit tool and accordingly identify gaps if any and develop a plan of action with the support of the Assistant Operations Manager in order to keep the clinic at the highest score possible and ready for the official clinic audit. Promotion of International SOS Services Ensure International SOS is represented in a professional manner. Ensure a Continuous Quality Improvement culture and system is maintained throughout the clinic. Assist in the promotion of International SOS’ medical services with the client. Participate in International SOS’ environmental, personal protection, disease and/or health promotions. Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHS&E) Comply to Companys’ OHS&E policy, standards and guidelines at all times. Promote good OHS&E practice at work place. Participate in OHS&E related activities from time to time. Contribute towards achievement of Companys’ OHS&E objectives and key performance indicators Responsible and accountable to all aspects of safety and health at work place OH&S Responsibility Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace. Undertake all mandatory OH&S training as required. Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies, procedures or safe work practices given by Intl.SOS in adhering to safe work procedures. Co-operate with management in its fulfillment of its legislative obligations. Take reasonable care to ensure their own health and safety and the safety of others. To report any injury, hazard or illness as soon as possible to their supervisor. Additional Responsibilities Act as a medical escort when required and as appropriate for medical evacuations. Responsible to raise awareness of first aid and CPR on for site staff. Ensure medical emergency response plans are implemented and maintained. To work within and promote all International SOS’ policies, procedures and corporate values. Participate in the ongoing development and enhancement of these important areas of our business. Perform Drug and Alcohol screening for staff identified and brought by client authorized representative as per approved Drug & Alcohol Screening SOPP. Supervise ambulance driver on his/her daily task and ensure the ambulance is in road worthy and safe condition at all times. Assist site medics in handling emergency/ trauma cases Report any unsafe acts and unsafe conditions at worksites Attend meeting with HSE Department, if required Required Registration and Qualification Valid Annual Practicing Certificate issued by Medical Assistant Board or Nursing Board. Valid Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) certification from NIOSH Knowledge of local safety related legislative and regulatory requirements. Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates. Required Skills and Knowledge ACLS / ITLS or similar protocols. Working knowledge of the principles of medical practice. Experience with both Primary Care and Emergency Medicine. Hold any other certification that may be required by PMC for the specific site and/or regulation. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Quality of care focus. Professional bedside manner. Good time management. Team player. Work effectively with non-medical staff. Required Languages English & Malay – ability to speak, read and write. Ability to speak local language or a second language will be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite. Travel / Rotation Requirements Any work pattern deemed appropriate or required by the client or company. Medical Related Attending to all cases of medical ailments, trauma. Updating necessary paperwork eg Patient Contact Report (PCR), Medical Activity Log (MAL), etc Communicating for cases when required with Assistance centre and related paperwork eg. NOC/PCR, ecgs, photos. Communication - Informing client representative /Supervisor of: All cases of trauma and work related injury. Communication with AC, per International SOS escalation procedures. Advise and arrangements for Emergency Disembarkation. Fitness to Work (FTW) To implement FTW as advised by COMPANY procedure Identify all workers requiring FTW and maintain an up to date list Screen, verify and maintain fitness to work medical record including pre-employment, periodic, pre-placement and medical surveillance record Track FTW compliance in accordance with the COMPANY’s FTW guideline. Provide FTW awareness. Arrange for return to work assessment, post illness, injuries as advised by Occupational Heralth Doctor Public Health Services Provide public health services e.g. Worksite Hygiene Inspection, control of communicable diseases including vector control supervision, food handling and catering assurance. These include the followings: Inspect Cafeteria Conduct worksite visits / walkabouts Health Records Maintain and submit identified health records as below; Monthly Health performance records (e.g. TROIF, Monthly Health Return,) Health surveillance records (e.g. audiometric test results, biological monitoring result) Health Promotion Participate and promote healthy work culture and lifestyle through health promotion activities and initiatives including: Conduct Health Promotion programs (e.g. health talks, blood donation, games, exhibitions, BMI Campaign, etc) Conduct Health Talk at location Conduct Occupational Health Awareness talks monthly (e.g. Hearing Conservation Program/Health Surveillance Stress, Repetitive Strain Injury, etc) Participate in HSE assurance activities Medical Surveillance Identify and maintain a list of all workers requiring medical surveillance as per HRA recommendation. Track medical surveillance compliance (update list). Collect and collate COMPANY’s medical surveillance data and submit to the relevant parties. Weekly training with ambulance team to ensure understanding of equipment and process. F.3 Monthly Jobs Preparation of the major equipment check list within first 24 hours of arrival. Checking the controlled drugs register with client representative and counter signing. Preparing handover and leaving a copy for relief (sending a copy to International SOS’s line management). Monthly inventory. Monthly drugs and disposables ordered, (if any, Hard copies of PO’s /RFQ’s issued and received partial or complete, must be included in order to inform in handover to relief). Any other administrative job as assigned by client through line manager.
