CARROT Global is seeking a passionate and professional local language instructor to deliver customized workplace English and Malay training for employees at a global manufacturing site in Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu .

This is a contract-based, on-site opportunity ideal for bilingual instructors with strong classroom presence and experience in adult or corporate training.

• Deliver group and 1-on-1 language classes (English & Malay)
• Group classes: 5–10 employees per class
• 1-on-1 classes: Designed for executive learners
• Classes organized by level, rank, and training focus (timetable provided in advance)
• Work closely with CARROT Global’s team on content planning and learner support

• Fluent/native-level proficiency in both English and Malay
• Malaysian local instructor strongly preferred
• Strong teaching/training background (especially in adult education)
• Familiarity with industrial or business training settings
• Must live in Bintulu or be willing to commute daily (Shuttle pick-up starts ~6:00 AM within Bintulu)

• One-round demo-teaching interview via Zoom with CARROT’s class management team
• All materials and curriculum support provided
• Class structure may vary slightly from session to session

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB) is a Malaysian-based NGO partnered with UNHCR to run five schools for refugee children in Johor: Johor Bahru, Kota Tinggi, Pekan Nanas, Kluang, and Muar. CSB aims to develop holistic education and skills for refugees, enabling them to integrate into society. CSB also works towards building the refugee community by enhancing their health and livelihood sectors and creating links to boost the community's capacity in these areas. Our goal for our students is to obtain 5 IGCSE credits in order to graduate.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an IGCSE Computer Science (0478) & ESL Teacher (0510/0511) based in Johor Bahru. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering both English and Computer Science lessons based on the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and developing lesson plans tailored to the needs of refugee students. The role also includes monitoring student progress, providing feedback, and supporting students in their language and computer skills development.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with the Cambridge Examination Board (IGCSE or A-Levels) is highly preferred, whether through teaching, tutoring, or having taken the examinations at the secondary level.
• Must be passionate about teaching and enthusiastic about working with students, with a commitment to tailoring methods to meet the needs of refugee learners
• Proficiency in using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Openness to feedback and willingness to adapt teaching methods to suit refugee students’ needs
• Teaching certifications or qualifications are an advantage
• Experience working with refugee communities is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English (ESL (0510/0511) and Computer Science (0478) based on the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum
• Develop lesson materials adapted to the needs and levels of refugee students
• Create topical assessments, mid-year exams, and final exams aligned with the IGCSE format and based on content taught
• Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and academic support
• Prepare students for internal assessments and IGCSE examinations
• Attend monthly teachers’ meetings to discuss school updates, student concerns, and academic planning
• (Optional) Take part in school-wide activities such as Sports Day, field trips, end-of-year celebrations, and graduation ceremonies
• Collaborate with other teachers across CSB centres to share best practices and maintain consistency
