Your main responsibilities is to underwrite life insurance risk in accordance to the concurred authority; ensure meeting personal KPI and work as a team to meet departments and company’s vision.
You'll be responsible for:
- Underwrite and counter sign life insurance risks up to the concurred authority.
- Work with immediate superiors and other managers to ensure personal KPI and departments KPI are met, this includes:
- Daily personal productivity is met
- Work with other team members to ensure overall department turnaround time are met
- To follow quality underwriting practice which includes prudent, competitive and consistent underwriting decision, follow the set guidelines (internal and reinsurer manuals); adhere to legal and compliance requirements, company and regional underwriting policy.
- Initiate and foster good working relationship with the Sales Team and agents.
- Support initiative and project that are initiated from Group to ensure that we are align with Group and company direction.
- Any other duties as and when deemed necessary.
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of working experience in underwriting for life insurance or related field.
- Team player, good interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to leverage AI tools like ChatGPT for automating routine tasks and enhancing productivity.

Our client is a major commercial insurance brokerage with offices in Bristol City Centre. They have a fantastic training programme which allows insurance professionals from all backgrounds the opportunity to pursue a career within commercial broking.
Ideally applicants will have some commercial insurance experience, either broking, underwriting or claims, however, we are more than happy to hear from individuals from varying insurance backgrounds, perhaps you’re a personal lines broker or underwriter or wanting to move away from an insurance call centre. All we ask is that you have a desire to learn, to work hard, have a positive mind set and are keen to join a quality “team oriented” business.
In this role you will be dealing with smaller commercial clients, mainly SME with annual premium spends up to £10k.
