We are currently seeking an exceptional professional to join us as EHS Manager APAC
The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across all operational locations within the Asia-Pacific region.
This role plays a key part in supporting the global EHS strategy, driving risk reduction, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager partners with site leadership, operational teams, and the Global EHS function to embed accountability, manage regional risk, and implement global initiatives effectively and consistently.

Responsibilities
Establish and maintain robust EHS management systems across all APAC sites, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and corporate requirements through structured governance and assurance processes. Act as a strategic advisor to APAC operations, enabling site and country leaders to understand and own their EHS responsibilities. Drive leadership accountability and integrate EHS into operational decision-making. Monitor legislative developments across APAC jurisdictions, ensuring effective systems are in place for legal compliance, reporting, permitting, and interaction with regulatory bodies. Lead investigations of significant incidents and high-potential near misses. Ensure root cause analysis, corrective action, and knowledge sharing to reduce regional EHS risk and support global learning. Develop and maintain regional EHS metrics. Communicate key trends and insights to stakeholders, identifying priorities for continuous improvement aligned with business goals, ESG targets, and compliance requirements. Lead internal EHS audits across APAC locations and support external assessments. Ensure findings are addressed, controls are effective, and lessons are captured as part of a robust governance cycle. Build EHS capability by delivering training, supporting onboarding, and enabling leaders and teams to take ownership. Promote a proactive, inclusive safety culture across diverse work environments. Actively support global EHS programs, systems, and projects. Represent APAC in global forums, contribute regional insight, and ensure the successful implementation of corporate EHS strategies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical/scientific field. 7–10 years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 3 years in a regional or multi-site leadership role. Proven knowledge of EHS legislation across APAC countries (e.g., Malaysia, Singapore, India, China). NEBOSH International Diploma, CSP, or equivalent regional certification (e.g., Malaysian NIOSH). Professional membership (e.g., IOSH, IEMA, AIHA, IIRSM). Experience in high-risk industries (aerospace, logistics, manufacturing, chemical). Demonstrated ability to lead across cultures and influence cross-functional teams.
Nice To Have
Postgraduate qualification or MBA with EHS/sustainability focus. ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification.

Key Responsibility

- Green Certification Management – Coordinate the full lifecycle of green building certification processes including documentation, credit tracking, submission, and audits for projects pursuing GBI, GreenRE, or LEED ratings.
- Environmental Reporting & Authority Submission – Prepare and submit environmental documents such as EMP, ESCP, and monitoring reports to local councils (Majlis) and the Department of Environment. Ensure timely compliance with environmental regulations.
- Construction Site Monitoring – Conduct regular site inspections to verify implementation of green design elements and environmental mitigation measures (e.g., dust control, water runoff, waste segregation).
- Training & Awareness – Organize sustainability briefings and workshops to enhance awareness of green building principles and regulatory compliance among project team members and contractors.
- Sustainability Documentation & ESG Support – Maintain detailed records of sustainability metrics and certification progress. Support internal ESG reporting requirements through data collection and reporting.
Candidate Requirements
- Candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field.
- Additional training or certification in GBI Facilitator or GreenRE Accredited Professional (AP), LEED Green Associate or ISO 14001 familiarity is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in consultant or construction environments with focused on green building design or certification coordination.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp, familiar with Microsoft Excel for sustainability data reporting, exposure to simulation tools such as ecotect, energyplus is added advantages.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable design principles and green certification frameworks, familiarity with environmental compliance procedures involving Majlis and DOE

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives across a defined area. You will work directly with Google Data Centers (GDC) partners, developers, general contractors, electrical/mechanical trades and organizations, key integrators, fabricators, and commissioning agents to improve the EHS programs and performance on our projects. You will engage in pre-qualification evaluations of potential vendors, update the project manual, and communicate EHS expectations. You'll be involved in strategic planning, risk mitigation and on-time delivery. You will also be responsible for establishing and tracking a set of performance metrics, developing and implementing best practices including lessons learned regularly reporting out to stakeholders to help the organization scale efficiently.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for data center construction in Malaysia and other areas in APAC as needed and be an EHS advisor to Google stakeholders. Work with developers and contractors to align our EHS values and expectations to deliver the projects safely.
- Be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks at construction sites, and the transition from design to construction to operations.
- Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with our regional strategy, including analyzing EHS business risks and identifying, describing, and estimating efficiencies to be gained through established programs.
- Lead, monitor, and track the development and ownership of the EHS program for construction oversight and data collection up until Operational/Facility Ready (FR) delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives across a defined area. You will work directly with Google Data Centers (GDC) partners, developers, general contractors, electrical/mechanical trades and organizations, key integrators, fabricators, and commissioning agents to improve the EHS programs and performance on our projects. You will engage in pre-qualification evaluations of potential vendors, update the project manual, and communicate EHS expectations. You'll be involved in strategic planning, risk mitigation and on-time delivery. You will also be responsible for establishing and tracking a set of performance metrics, developing and implementing best practices including lessons learned regularly reporting out to stakeholders to help the organization scale efficiently.

Responsibilities
Take ownership of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for data center construction in Malaysia and other areas in APAC as needed and be an EHS advisor to Google stakeholders. Work with developers and contractors to align our EHS values and expectations to deliver the projects safely. Be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks at construction sites, and the transition from design to construction to operations. Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with our regional strategy, including analyzing EHS business risks and identifying, describing, and estimating efficiencies to be gained through established programs. Lead, monitor, and track the development and ownership of the EHS program for construction oversight and data collection up until Operational/Facility Ready (FR) delivery.

Summary:
The EHS Officer at an ink cartridge manufacturing plant in Seelong, Senai Johor will support the EHS Manager in developing and maintaining comprehensive Environment, Health & Safety programs. This role is crucial for ensuring full compliance with Malaysian EHS laws, especially those from DOSH and DOE , including OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and EQA 1974 . Given the significant chemical handling and waste generation involved in operations, expertise in these areas is essential. The ideal candidate will be proactive and hands-on, working towards a zero-incident workplace and fostering a strong EHS culture.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Occupational Safety & Health (OSH)
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify and rectify unsafe acts and conditions.
- Develop, review, and implement Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and
- Determining Control (HIRADC) for all routine and non-routine activities.
- Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and develop effective corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
- Serve as the Secretary for the site's Safety & Health Committee, including preparing meeting materials and tracking action items.
- Manage the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system for high-risk activities such as hot work and confined space entry.
- Oversee the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program, including needs assessment, employee training, and compliance monitoring.
- Conduct EHS induction for new employees and contractors, and deliver regular toolbox talks and specific safety training.
- Assist in the development and execution of emergency response drills (e.g., fire evacuation, chemical spills).
Environmental Compliance
- Manage all aspects of Scheduled Waste (Buangan Terjadual) in accordance with the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005. This includes proper identification, labelling, storage, and coordinating disposal with DOE-licensed contractors.
- Maintain accurate records and manage reporting via the Electronic Scheduled Waste Information System (e-SWIS).
- Monitor and ensure compliance with industrial effluent discharge standards (if applicable) and air emission regulations from our production processes.
- Maintain the site's Chemical Register and ensure all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are up-to-date and accessible as per CLASS Regulations 2013.
- Conduct regular inspections of chemical storage areas, waste holding areas, and pollution control equipment.
Legal and Management System Compliance
- Stay current with all applicable Malaysian EHS laws and regulations and ensure the facility's policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
- Act as a key liaison with regulatory bodies such as the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH/JKKP), Department of Environment (DOE/JAS), and the Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA).
- Assist in maintaining the ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) certifications.
- Prepare and submit all mandatory EHS reports to government agencies in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready EHS records, documentation, and data.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on EHS experience within a manufacturing environment .
- Direct experience in the chemical, electronics, or a similar industry involving chemical processing and hazardous waste management is highly preferred.
- Legal Knowledge: Demonstrable, in-depth knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA), Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (FMA), and Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA) and their associated regulations.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in conducting HIRARC and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Competent in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
- Expertise in Malaysian Scheduled Waste management (e-SWIS).
- Strong understanding of chemical safety, SDS, and the CLASS Regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization, from shop-floor operators to senior management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

We currently have a full-time vacancy in our Commercial Services Team and are looking for a part time enforcement officer with appropriate food hygiene qualifications and experience to back fill the role initially until the end of May and potentially for longer.
Candidates for this role would need to hold either: A Higher or Advanced Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board; or A degree (BSc) / postgraduate (MSc) qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent. You should also be in possession of suitable CPD (20 hours annually) including at least 10 hours annually re Regulatory Food Safety Inspections.
We currently have between 60 and 100 food businesses requiring inspection by the end of March 2025 in addition to those allocated to existing full time staff. The premises are predominantly Cat Ds and a smaller number of Category C’s. You will produce an inspection report and issue risk ratings. In some instances, you may be required to issue a longer report and letter and an additional hourly rate payment would be made for this. The work programme is flexible so you can fit around other commitments. If you are interested, we will need evidence of your competency to include: CV, qualifications, CPD record and ideally a completed competency assessment document.
