Job Summary

To ensure the timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement of materials, components, tools, and services necessary for precision manufacturing operations.

What you'll be doing

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive prices, quality assurance, and reliable delivery schedules.
  • Prepare purchase orders (PO) and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
  • Maintain accurate supplier databases and price lists.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Evaluate alternative suppliers and materials to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or delivery timelines.

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews (price, quality, delivery, and service).
  • Support supplier audits in collaboration with Quality and Compliance departments.

Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Participate in cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities align with approved budgets and cost targets.
  • Prepare regular procurement reports, cost summaries, and variance analyses.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all purchases follow company SOPs, ISO 9001 requirements, and internal approval limits.
  • Maintain complete purchasing documentation for audit and traceability.
  • Support internal and external audits related to procurement, suppliers, and compliance.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality departments to understand technical specifications and ensure correct materials are ordered.
  • Communicate effectively with Finance to verify invoices, deliveries, and payment terms.
  • Support new project sourcing and supplier qualification processes.

Job Qualifications:

· Minimum 2–4 years of purchasing experience in a precision engineering / technical drawing/ manufacturing environment.

· Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Knowledge of ISO 9001, RBA compliance, and procurement best practices.

· High integrity, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple priorities under pressure.

Requirements:

  • Preferably with at least 5 - 7 years in the Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturing Industry
  • Candidates with Mechanical Engineering background highly advantageous
  • Deep understanding of AP culture
  • Experiences in negotiating contract, stocking programs, LT reductions activities, supplier development will be useful
  • Problem resolution, conflict management
  • Knowledge of global supply chain emerging trends and influences of global environment on a broad range of strategic commodities including industry pricing, technology, supply/demand trends will be useful
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering concepts and financial analysis
  • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing
  • High level of integrity
  • Challenges status quo, adopts rational, fact-based problem resolution methodology and implements continuous improvements
  • Ability to communicate and build strong supplier & cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of responsibility and urgency

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains global or regional responsibility for a strategic and/or high dollar commodity or group of commodities, for price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, terms and conditions.
  • Develops and implements a procurement strategy for the commodities they manage including competitive, technology direction, supplier analysis, development and selection and pricing strategy.
  • Acts as primary interface with Celestica's suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation issues, establishing business framework for transactions, performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs.
  • Sources all products and services, maintaining a continuity of supply, while delivering the lowest cost component or service solution.
  • Leads the Commodity Council Corporate negotiation teams, individually as required or the Customer Material Commitment process through materials pricing and Customer BOM analysis.
  • Leads negotiations for high impact commodities, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and negotiations planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presentations / communication consistent message to suppliers.
  • Has frequent interaction and negotiation with senior executives of industry leading multi-national companies.
  • Manages the Global Commodity Negotiation process ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing accuracy.
  • Manages data flow for pricing fluctuations in market and analytical tools including development and maintenance of Commodity Management systems applications.
  • Conducts strategic analysis on pricing, the market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts and long-term agreements.
  • May act as site liaison to manage critical shortage, develop strategies on constrained commodities and represent site, manage related systems changes that have broad effect on execution of purchasing responsibilities.
  • Drives process improvement, leads development of IT tools for group, defines business processes and implements new tools/ processes.
  • Performs bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
  • Working knowledge of Celestica's global supply chain including strategic policies and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including ERP and office systems.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of negotiation practices / methodology for commodities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.

Typical Education
