Job Description
The Data Scientist plays a key role in driving digital transformation across our exploration and production operations. Support the InfoTech & Digitalization department and work closely with other business units to enhance data management practices, improve data accessibility, and develop digital solutions that boost productivity and reduce operational costs. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Collaborate within the InfoTech & Digitalization department to improve data management practices, including data quality, governance, and lifecycle management. Analyze storage utilization and propose optimization strategies to reduce costs and improve performance. Develop solutions to enhance data accessibility and usability for end users across departments. Support the company’s digital transformation roadmap by identifying opportunities for automation, predictive analytics, and AI-driven insights. Evaluate and implement digital tools and platforms that align with business goals. Partner with departments such as Operations, Finance, and Engineering to identify pain points and co-develop digital products or dashboards that improve efficiency and reduce costs. Translate business needs into technical solutions using data science and analytics. Conduct training sessions and workshops to upskill staff in data literacy, analytics tools, and digital technologies. Promote a data-driven culture across the organization. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution. Working experience: More than 3 years of hands-on experience in data science or analytics role, preferably in a complex, asset-heavy industry such as oil & gas, energy, or manufacturing. Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions that improved operational efficiency, reduced costs, or enhanced decision-making. Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with business units such as Operations, Finance, and Engineering. Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with managing and working with large, diverse datasets from multiple sources. Experience in mentoring or training colleagues in data literacy or analytics tools. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Comfortable working in both structured and agile environments, adapting to evolving business needs. Technical skills: Python programming for data analysis, modeling, and automation. SQL programming for querying and manipulating relational databases. Power BI for building interactive dashboards and reports. Machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, and clustering. Data wrangling and manipulation using libraries like pandas and numpy. Building ETL processes and data pipelines. Deploying models or analytics solutions into production environments. Knowledge of data governance, including data quality, metadata, and lifecycle management

Roles And Responsibilities
Develop and implement advanced machine learning models (e.g., reinforcement learning, supervised learning) for real-time optimization of HVAC systems. Work with dynamic simulation models to predict and optimise the performance of industrial systems. Analyse large datasets, including plant and environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and energy consumption metrics. Build and refine predictive models for energy demand forecasting and optimise control strategies across different industrial applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AI engineers, product managers) to deploy models in production environments. Design and evaluate experiments to test and validate model performance, ensuring alignment with energy efficiency goals. Continuously enhance models to improve prediction accuracy and system control. Present findings, analysis, and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Have at least 2 years experience with ETL processes and model optimization techniques like feature selection, hyper-parameter tuning, and model validation. Proficient in programming languages like Python, R, or Java, with a strong foundation in designing algorithms using various data structures. Solid understanding of dynamic simulation models and / or digital twins for system optimization. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) for deploying AI models. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex data insights to a diverse audience. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with predictive modelling algorithms like logistic regression, neural networks, decision trees, and heuristic models. Ability to work efficiently with different teams and independently learn new concepts or techniques.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in energy optimization, manufacturing, or industrial IoT projects is an advantage. Knowledge of reinforcement learning and control theory is highly desirable.

Partner with stakeholders including our sales team, relationship managers, traders and leadership to understand where AI can optimise our business. Define AI business requirements with tangible, measurable and commercial success criteria. Mine large sets of data to uncover trends, insights, and opportunities from multiple internal and external data sources. Enhance data collection methods through augmentation, normalisation, and outlier removal. Recommend appropriate AI solutions and train AI models. Deliver self-service dashboards to report on business use case and success criteria. Use data visualisation for predicted outputs and insights and to translate complete analytics into business language. Embed a framework of continuous monitoring to deployed models and solutions, for continuous enhancement.
Skills And Experience
Experience and education in AI, Mathematics, Engineering, the Sciences, or related discipline. Predictive models, machine learning algorithms and large language models. Data visualisation tools, including Matplotlib, Plotly, Power BI and Tableau. Natural Language Processing (NLP). Python programming. Financial mathematics. Time series analysis. Data governance and management. AI regulatory compliance. AI techniques including quantum machine learning.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Partner with stakeholders including our sales team, relationship managers, traders and leadership to understand where AI can optimise our business. Define AI business requirements with tangible, measurable and commercial success criteria. Mine large sets of data to uncover trends, insights, and opportunities from multiple internal and external data sources. Enhance data collection methods through augmentation, normalisation, and outlier removal. Recommend appropriate AI solutions and train AI models. Deliver self-service dashboards to report on business use case and success criteria. Use data visualisation for predicted outputs and insights and to translate complete analytics into business language. Embed a framework of continuous monitoring to deployed models and solutions, for continuous enhancement.
Skills And Experience
Experience and education in AI, Mathematics, Engineering, the Sciences, or related discipline. Predictive models, machine learning algorithms and large language models. Data visualisation tools, including Matplotlib, Plotly, Power BI and Tableau. Natural Language Processing (NLP). Python programming. Financial mathematics. Time series analysis. Data governance and management. AI regulatory compliance. AI techniques including quantum machine learning.

Solid understanding of dynamic simulation models and / or digital twins for system optimization. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) for deploying AI models. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex data insights to a diverse audience. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with predictive modelling algorithms like logistic regression, neural networks, decision trees, and heuristic models. Ability to work efficiently with different teams and independently learn new concepts or techniques. Qualifications
