Server Administrator

Full Job Description

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.
Monitor server performance and capacity to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to servers and related components.
Implement and maintain security measures to protect against unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats.
Perform routine maintenance and updates to servers, including backups, patches, and
security updates.
Manage user accounts and permissions.
Monitor system logs and take appropriate action in response to alerts.
Manage backups and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Collaborate with other MIS staff to plan and implement server-related projects.
Maintain documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Work with other IT staff to ensure that servers are integrated into the larger network infrastructure.
Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting issues and
answering questions.

At least 2-5 years of experience in server administration.
Experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Linux operating systems is a plus.
Strong understanding of network protocols and services such as DNS, DHCP, and
LDAP.
