  • Supporting the therapy team when dealing and managing patients, who may have physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury, disability or ageing. The Head of Therapy will ensure the delivery of evidence-based care in accordance with established National and International best practices, policies and procedures.
  • Develop therapy service standards and ensure they are consistently met. Acting as a role model, he/she will deliver high clinical and operational performance standards through mentoring and supporting the therapists.
  • Collaborates with nursing and allied health staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive officers and other stakeholders in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Leads the therapy teams and is responsible for the overall service delivery.
  • Delegates responsibilities appropriate to licensure, education and experience of staff.
  • Recognizes the diverse skill levels of individual staff members and the unique needs of the patient population when developing staffing plans; and ensures levels of staffing for the level of acuity is appropriate 24/hours/day.
  • Responsible for ensuring therapy staff adhere to the Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice of the regulatory body.
  • To evaluate and coordinate the staffing levels and skill mix of the inpatient and outpatient Services, ensuring best quality clinical care delivery.
  • To market, promote and profile the services to patients, referrers and the general public and to undertake business development activities.
  • Uses unit resources in a cost effective and responsible manner.
  • Actively participates in the process for ensuring the organization achieves and maintains MSQH or other relevant accreditation body accreditation.
  • Ensures the reporting of all adverse events, incidents and near misses.
  • Contributes to investigations of complaints and incidents and draft responses as required in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to the monitoring of key performance indicators and developing action plans as required
